Black History Showcase Presented by the Black Alumni Network

The Jacksonville University Black Alumni Network presents the 2021 Black History Showcase. This entertaining event will feature contributions of Black Jacksonville University alumni artists, writers and performers; reviving vital history that has been buried, overlooked and forgotten through musical performances, poetry/spoken word, skits, dances, and much more.

On May 9, 1963, our Board of Trustees took a momentous vote for that era and this region: to integrate. Four months later, on September 3, 1963, Robert Andrew (Bob) Taylor, along with two others, took heroic steps on Jacksonville University's campus to enroll as transfer students. Their legacies continue as they have contributed a lifetime of public service to their communities. Because of these students, the university now boasts a diverse campus made of numerous nationalities, races and ethnicities. As we celebrate Jacksonville's Black community and its history on our campus this month, please consider making a gift of $19.63 to support the Black Alumni Network Scholarship.
