Women’s History Month Edit-a-thon
9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.
The College of Arts and Sciences and the Women’s and Gender Studies program invite students, faculty, and staff to join a wiki edit-a-thon in honor of women’s history month. On Thursday, March 25th, from 9am to 9pm, we invite people across campus to join us in a virtual effort to increase representation of women on Wikipedia. Wikipedia, one of the most widely used resources on the internet, tends to focus on dominant history and culture.  Often articles related to women and gender are missing entirely, stub articles, or contain incorrect or incomplete information. Participants in this event will watch a video tutorial (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C7yXx3YbcNI&ab_channel=Howcast) to learn the basics of wiki-editing and look for things that they could add based on their knowledge.
