JU to celebrate Women’s History Month 2022

Throughout the month of March, Jacksonville University will observe Women’s History Month with a full schedule of events designed to discuss, connect and celebrate women. The month-long celebration culminates with Jacksonville University’s own Woman of the Year Award ceremony, where the university will honor the many impressive accomplishments of women on campus.

March 1-31, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. daily – Admiration Station

Kinne Center

Stop by the Kinne Center to write a note of admiration, thank you or support to a woman who has made an impact on you. On-campus notes will be delivered and off-campus ones will be mailed for you by our Student Affairs office. 

March 7, 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. – Panhellenic Badge Day

Marks Center

Sorority women across the country will celebrate International Badge Day. Honor your (past or present) Greek-letter affiliation by wearing your badges and/or letters.

March 8-31, all day – Women’s Necessities Drive

Williams Hall and Botts Hall

The Student Government Association will be collecting a variety of Women’s necessities in the Women’s Bathrooms of Williams & Botts Hall. If you are interested in donating additional items, please email smeiste@jacksonville.edu.

March 8, 12 p.m. – Coffee & Conversation

River House

Get to know fellow JU women at these casual conversations on topics related to women’s issues. This session will feature a discussion with LaTarsha Stallworth on The Journey from Healing to Wholeness.

March 10, 12 p.m. – Coffee & Conversation

River House

Get to know fellow JU women at these casual conversations on topics related to women’s issues. This session will feature a discussion with Shaya Lamb on Hope in Sports and Technology: Creating Pathways for Women.

March 22, 6:30 p.m. – Poetry Reading and Conversation with Erin Belieu

Terry Concert Hall

Hear from nationally renowned poet Erin Belieu as she is recognized as the 2022 Walter Visiting Writer. Ms. Beliu’s poetry addresses issues relevant to gender, love, and history. She is the author of five books of poetry, most recently Come-Hither Honeycomb 92020) and the co-founder of Vida: Women in the Literary Arts

March 23, 12:30 p.m. – Pink Out

Dolphin Statue

Show your support for Women’s History Month by wearing pink. Join us at the Dolphin Statue at 12:30 for a campus photo.

March 24, 12 p.m. – Coffee & Conversation

River House

Get to know fellow JU women at these casual conversations on topics related to women’s issues. This session will feature a discussion with Dr. Julian Bryson on In Her Hands: Composing Musical Medicine.

March 24, 7:30 p.m. – Women’s History Month Celebration & Award Ceremony

Terry Concert Hall

This concert and awards ceremony celebrates Women’s History month at Jacksonville University. Join us as students from Music, Dance, and Theatre offer work to accompany the announcements of the winners for JU Woman of the Year awards, including Student, Graduate Student, Faculty and Staff.

12:30 — Student lunch with free pizza “Justice, Not Just Us: Why We All Play a Role in Justice Work” 

3:00-4:30 — Faculty pedagogical workshop “Facilitating Equity Centered Classrooms: Tools for Every Educator”
