For the fourth year in a row, Jacksonville University shattered records during Dolphin Dash, its annual five-day giving challenge. From February 5 to February 9, more than 5,000 Dolphins from around the world came together to invest $4.25 million across multiple areas of campus.
Jacksonville University President Tim Cost ’81 and his wife, Stephanie, once again supported every Dolphin Dash competitor with a gift of $265,000. They announced their generous donation at the Dolphin Dome, the exhibition-style celebration during the final hours of the week, and brought the university over the $4,000,000 mark.
This year, supporters had more ways to make a difference by earning IMPACT, ENGAGE, and INSPIRE points for athletics teams, colleges, Greek organizations, clubs, and affinity networks. The top two groups with the most points in each category earned cash prizes. This year’s big winners included the College of Law, followed by the Sailing Team, Women’s Rowing, and Alpha Delta Pi.
Other Challenge winners included:
Battle of the Decades: 2020’s alumni
Number 1 Champion: Danielle Della Rocca (Men’s Lacrosse)
Social Spirit Champion: Women’s Basketball
Several students were also awarded $10,000 scholarships gifted from the Board of Trustees for their Dolphin Dash participation. The recipients were Ella Wehner, a junior and dance major; Connor Aivaz, a junior and aviation major; and Daniel Montalvo Salazar, a sophomore, member of the Men’s Golf team, and a psychology and business major.
