Announcing the JU Healthy Campus Program
March 2, 2017
To the JU Community,
Jacksonville University is continually seeking an environment that produces graduates who are Life Ready, Work Ready, World Ready. This focus drives excellence in Academics, Student Services, Career Services, Athletics and other areas of the University that are instrumental in our students’ development.
A key element of our strategy is the enhancement of the health and wellness of our students, faculty and staff. For years, our University has conducted numerous healthy campus initiatives that have garnered multiple awards while aiming to improve the quality of life for individuals and the community. While these initiatives have provided significant value, to fully leverage our resources, we have created the Healthy Campus Program.
The Jacksonville University Healthy Campus Program is designed to promote health and wellness for students, faculty, staff and alumni. We have established the Healthy Campus website at www.ju.edu/healthycampus to highlight our current activities in Fitness and Wellness, Academics, Social Responsibility, and Environmental Health. While we currently have significant activities in each of these areas, our goal is to improve this program by seeking input from the University family as we explore new and innovative ideas in healthy food, fitness activities, bicycles, walking, recycling, sustainability, and other areas.
I invite each of you to the Healthy Campus Town Hall meetings to provide your thoughts on what a Healthy Campus means to you. The Town Hall meetings will be held at 4:30 p.m. March 14, 12:30 p.m. March 15, and 12:30 p.m. April 5 in the Wolfson Banquet Hall at the Kinne University Center. We will share initiatives that have been developed by our committee, but the primary focus of the Town Halls is to hear your ideas. We have also created a suggestion box on the Healthy Campus website that you can use at any time to provide input.
We are blessed with a wonderful campus that cultivates an environment of health and wellness. I am excited about this program and what it will mean to the Jacksonville University family. Thank you for your support, and I look forward to your participation in these meetings as we continue cultivating a culture of positive change, collaboration and innovation.
Sincerely,
Tim Cost
