JetBlue University Gateway Program
The JetBlue University Gateway Program was the first and is the longest-running pathway program for aviation college students. Launched in 2007, University Gateway allows students in flight programs from AABI-accredited partner colleges/universities to earn a conditional job offer as a first officer at JetBlue. Once accepted, students follow one of several prescribed paths to gain experience and build their flight time. Provided they meet all program requirements and pass required background and other related checks, those in the program join JetBlue as first officers without additional JetBlue interviews.
Pilot Hiring Opportunity
Jacksonville University School of Aviation students can now be a part of several highly selective airline career programs offering a specified career path from your first day in the program into the cockpit of a major airline.
In each program, sophomores and upperclassmen begin to take part in a structured, challenging screening procress akin to those used by major airlines for incoming pilots. Student meeting the requirements will have a defined pathway to becoming first officer with regional and major airlines as they meet the requirements to be hired for available positions.
Upon attaining their Certified Flight Instructor rating, qualified JU students can apply to the Flight Instructors with L3Harris Airline Academy at their Jacksonville base. Students working as instructors build the necessary flight time and gain valuable experience that will qualify them to move on to the airline industry.
Restricted Privileges Air Transport Pilot (R-ATP)
The JU School of Aviation's Letter of Authorization for Institutional Authority allows our school to issue certifying statements to our Aviation Management and Flight Operation graduates qualifying them for the R-ATP at 1,000 hours of total flight time, if they have completed 60 credit hours of approved courses. Having the ability to move to the airline industry 500 hours early is a huge benefit as they start their careers as professional airline pilots.
