Management

The Management major in the Davis College of Business & Technology stands out amongst others as they infuse their curriculum with a focus on leadership and entrepreneurship. Students are pushed to think “outside the box” to discover the leader and innovative possibiiltites within themselves. Professors are highly qualified; many with both academic and business credentials bring real-world examples into the classroom.

The program requires mastery of the core business curriculum, so students are well-grounded in the fundamentals of business. Next, they learn the essential ingredients of management and entrepreneurship, how teams, organizations, and major corporations are organized and function.

The courses are designed to provide an understanding and application of management concepts from the basic principles of starting a business, to the development of organizational objectives. The program studies and explores important processes such as decision-making, business analysis, communications, negotiations, and CMA.

Career Opportunities

Management major job opportunities are expected to rise in the coming years due to the expansion of current and formation of new organizations.  Employees will be needed, as companies will have to hire workers to manage these new or expanding operations.  Employers in today’s marketplace are particularly seeking candidates with “people skills”.  These skills include human resources, communications, and decision-making. In management careers expect the unexpected and be prepared to use all sorts of leadership qualities and management techniques.  With a degree in management from JU, you will be ready to tackle management assignments and challenges in all kinds of organizations.

JU management graduates have been successful in a variety of public and private sector roles. DCOB graduates fill a number of executives positions. Some of their employers include CSX, Florida Blue, Georgia Pacific Corporation, Black Knight Financial Services, and UPS. This degree is a good preparation for an MBA.
