Form I-20 Requirements
I-20 Certificate of Eligibility is required to:

Apply for an F-1 Student Visa through a U.S. Consulate abroad.

Apply for a Change of Status while in the U.S. on an eligible nonimmigrant status.

To maintain F-1 student status in the U.S.
Jacksonville University will begin processing your I-20 once you’ve been admitted and deposited to a degree-seeking program, and have submitted all required documentation per the directions below. I-20s may take up to 14 business days to process and may be longer if inaccurate or insufficient documentation is submitted.
NOTE: Please note that the discovery of fraudulent or plagiarized documentation within submitted materials, at any point in my matriculation to the university, will result in an immediate rescindment of your acceptance offer. This action includes the forfeiture of any associated application fees, enrollment fees, and other relevant charges.
How do I get my I-20?
I am a new student coming to the U.S. and need to apply for my F-1 Visa.
- Pay your program's Enrollment Deposit (may be non-refundable).
- Submit to this form copies of:
- Your passport (valid for at least six months beyond your period of stay in the U.S.).
- Dependent(s) passports if applicable.
- Financial Document(s) & Financial Affidavit(s).
- Your passport (valid for at least six months beyond your period of stay in the U.S.).
Once you complete that form, it may take up to 14 business days for us to process your I-20. Ensuring you complete the submission accurately helps to avoid delays due to incorrect documentation.
When you receive your Form I-20, the email will come with instructions and next steps. You are responsible for the F-1 Visa application process and JU cannot asisst you beyond the issuance of the I-20.
I am an incoming student who already has a valid I-20 at another U.S. institution.
- Pay your program's Enrollment Deposit (may be non-refundable).
- Submit to this form copies of:
- Your passport (valid for at least six months beyond your period of stay in the U.S.).
- Dependent(s) passports if applicable.
- Financial Document(s) & Financial Affidavit(s).
- Your F-1 Visa & I-20 at your current school.
- Dependent(s) F-2 Visas if applicable.
- Completed SEVIS Transfer In Form. Send to your current DSO with your JU acceptance letter.
- Your passport (valid for at least six months beyond your period of stay in the U.S.).
For those on OPT, if you decice to transfer your SEVIS record before your OPT end date, you will end your OPT early and can no longer work. Any questions can be directed towards your current international office.
I am on another nonimmigrant visa type and need to file a Change of Status to F-1.
- Pay your program's Enrollment Deposit (may be non-refundable).
- Submit to this form copies of:
- Your passport (valid for at least six months beyond your period of stay in the U.S.).
- Dependent(s) passports if applicable.
- Financial Document(s) & Financial Affidavit(s).
- Your current visa/document of nonimmigrant status type.
- Dependent(s) visas/documents if applicable.
- Your passport (valid for at least six months beyond your period of stay in the U.S.).
We will then issue you a Form I-20 with issuance reason of "Change of Status." We cannot advise on this process and recommend you connect with an immigration attourney or the USCIS website.
Undergraduate I-20 Financial Breakdown
Like other universities, tuition and fees typically increaase annually. Specific program fees vary and are not reflected in these estimates.
