Demonstrated English proficiency is required of all non-native English speaking international students who come from a country where English is not spoken amongst the masses.

Students may demonstrate proficiency by submitting one of the following:

Competitive Scores Minimum
IELTS 6.5
TOEFL iBT 79
Pearson PTE 56
Duolingo 105
SAT Reading & Writing 500
ACT Reading & Writing 21

Additionally, international applicants who demonstrate academic achievement through the completion of one of the following may have the English proficiency requirement waived, subject to review by the Office of Admissions:

  • Completion of at least 24 semester credits at an accredited college or university in the U.S.
  • Completion of English Composition or an equivalent course, with a grade of "C" or higher, at an accredited college or university in the U.S.
  • Completion of an English as a Second Language program at an accredited college or university in the U.S.

Applicants who are applying to Jacksonville University with college/university credits that were received outside of the U.S. will need to complete a course-by-course foreign credential evaluation. The college/university transcript will not be reviewed without this evaluation completed and an official copy must be sent by the organization that made it.

Most evaluations are valid for 5 years, however, this may vary depending upon the evaluation organization. It is the responsibility of the applicant to ensure the evaluation is valid up until the date of matriculation.

The Evaluation Company (TEC) (formally SpanTran) is a NACES-member company that evaluates non-U.S. transcripts. They have created a custom application for JU students to help students get the right kind of evaluation at a discounted rate. Students can access their application by clicking here.

We also accept evaluations from all other members of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES).
